Outstanding Teen Program

Areas of competition

Private Interview
30%

In this phase each contestant meets privately with the panel of judges during an eight-minute interview. 
A 30 second introduction is included in the eight-minute interview. 

Talent
35%
The talent competition allows contestants to showcase their performance skills. Contestants perform a two-minute routine of their own choosing. Talent presentations may include singing, dancing, instrumental music, comedic or dramatic readings, baton or gymnastics or other talents that can be performed solo on a stage
Lifestyle and Fitness
10%

For this area of competition contestants will model sportswear (in character). The Lifestyle and Fitness competition showcases how contestants maintain good physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle

                                 
Scholastic Achievement
5%
In keeping with the MAOT Program’s mission, scholastic achievement has been added to the judging   
Evening Wear
15%
Each contestant appears on stage in an outfit of her own choosing, representing what she would wear to a prom or other formal event. Although contestants will typically wear evening gowns, pantsuits,     tea-length dresses and cocktail dresses are all appropriate.
On Stage Question
5%
Contestants will be asked an on stage question. This area of competition is designed to allow the contestant to make an on-stage statement of her interests, opinions and aspirations. 


RULES AND REGULATIONS

To become Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, a contestant must compete to represent her state, a process requiring personal commitment, hard work and talent.  To compete in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen program, you need commitment, perseverance, talent and ambition.

To compete you must:
Be a  young lady between the ages of 13 and 17
Be a United States citizen
Meet residency requirements for competing in a certain town or state

Meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization
Be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements
Be able to meet the time commitment and responsibilities as set forth by the local or state program in which you compete

Must not be eligible to compete in the Miss
America Competition

PROGRAM ENTRY

At-Large Entry
At-large contestants apply directly to the state program by completing the application and forwarding to the address indicated.  Program fees are paid by the contestant
Local Entry
Contestants can apply to one of the local programs and compete for a local title. The participation fee for the local program is determined by the local director. Some locals are open to all applicants and some may have a residency requirement. Please contact the following local program directors for information on participation in their programs
